Eagles beat Stingrays twice at home to take 2-0 lead in Kelly Cup Finals

A 3-2 victory in Game Two on Sunday night at Budweiser Events Center over the South Carolina Stingrays, has given the Colorado Eagles a 2-0 series lead in the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals.

South Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Colorado tied it up 1-1 in the second period on a goal by forward Matt Garbowsky. Just over a minute later, Sean Zimmerman scored to make it 2-1 for the Eagles.

Later in the second period, the Stingrays used a power play goal to tie it up at 2-2 heading into the second intermission.

Shawn St-Amant scored a power play goal in the third period to give the Eagles the 3-2 lead with 9:51 left. This was the eventual game-winning goal which gave the Eagles another huge win on home-ice and a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

Colorado got the weekend started off right with a 3-2 overtime victory on Friday night in Game One of the series. Matt Register scored the overtime-winner and Matt Garbowsky scored twice in the victory.

Game Three of the Kelly Cup Finals is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 4th at South Carolina, while Game Four will be played on Monday, June 5th. If necessary, Game Five will also be hosted by the Stingrays on Wednesday, June 7th; and again if necessary, the Eagles would host Games Six and Seven at home here in Colorado.
